The general temperature was 37.8’c-38.2’c and lasted for 2 to 3 days. I didn’t pay attention to it at first and took pain relief pills, but I noticed that after one to two weeks, I had a fever again. Started fever, feeling hot, headache and upper body bone pain. The symptoms were the same, which caused immediate attention. In May, I went to a large private hospital to be hospitalized for 4 days for a large-scale examination, and had a site scan, blood examination, including tuberculosis and all immune functions, and was finally diagnosed with fever of unknown cause. It is recommended to continue to take the pain killers, but the fever never stopped.

In May 2007, I was introduced to a private ward of a large public hospital by a friend for inspection and diagnosis. Three professors consulted and stayed in hospital for 2 days, and performed gallium nuclear scan, X-ray examination, CT scan, gastrointestinal endoscopy, All blood tests, liver and kidney function tests, tuberculosis bacteria culture tests, bone marrow tests, and finally diagnosed as fever of unknown origin. In September 2007, due to cartilage protrusion, I went to Dr. Wong’s clinic for treatment. I had a fever for more than a year and Dr. Wong suggested starting with the treatment of the cervical spine.

I started treatment three times a week in October 2007. After the first treatment, I was sweating profusely when I was sleeping at night, I had to get up in the middle of the night and change all my underwear. After that, I had to change the sheets and pillowcases every day, sweat on its own will produce the function of regulating body temperature (I never sweated when I had a fever in the past).About 2 months after Dr. Wong’s treatment of the cervical vertebrae, the fever was significantly reduced. Previously, 6 times a month, 3 days each time, now I have 3 fevers within about 2 months, one to two days each time. However, if the chiropractic treatment is stopped for two weeks, the fever will recur. Therefore, I believe that the problem of the cervical spine will cause long-term intermittent low-grade fever.

Case Analysis

In this column, the author will share with readers some unique clinical experiences encountered over the years, so as to find out the treatment methods from different medical perspectives. The human body is indeed a very complex and difficult, especially the various combinations and connections of nerves. Sometimes it’s also difficult to understand from a medical or scientific perspective.
The conditions of the patients are different, and even if the symptoms are the same, they may have different responses to different degrees during treatment. In the case of treating patients, it can indeed strengthen and increase my clinical training and experience.

The first case shared with readers this time is a 55-year-old male patient. In mid-September 2007, he came to our clinic for treatment of lumbar cartilage protrusion. In the chat, he mentioned that since April 2006, he has been experiencing intermittent low-grade fever, especially at night, when his back feels very uncomfortable and he sweats profusely. He had gone to the hospital to undergo different blood tests and body scans (see attachment), but he could not find out the cause. He had to continue to take painkillers to reduce the fever. The situation has lasted for more than a year and a half, and only rely on medications every day to reduce fever. In the later stage, even the effect of taking medicine to relieve pain and fever is reduced, and the body cannot sweat. Even if you drink hot soup or exercise, your body cannot sweat.

The human body has two systems

The nervous system refers to the Central Nervous System, includes the brain and spinal cord; the Peripheral Nervous System, includes 12 pairs of cranial nerves, 31 pairs of spinal nerves and the Autonomic Nervous System. The Autonomic nervous system includes Sympathetic Nervous System and Parasympathetic Nervous System

Compression of cervical nerves can affect body temperature

The autonomic nervous system is responsible for controlling and regulating body functions, including heartbeat, breathing, digestion and body temperature.

The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for transmitting external information from the spinal nerves to the brain.Because there are 3 pairs of sympathetic ganglia (Ganglia) in the cervical spine. If the cervical vertebral nerves are compressed, it may cause sympathetic nerve disorders and cause problems with the autonomic nervous system responsible for body temperature.

Treatment

I started with the cervical spine, using COX Decompression Technique to correct the first and third sections of the right cervical spine (sympathetic nerve position) and treating cervical muscles. After 2 months of treatment, Mr. Liu’s fever symptoms were significantly reduced, and his cervical and back pain was also greatly reduced.

External information is transmitted from the spinal nerves to the sympathetic nerves and then to the autonomic nervous system.

Author

Dr. Matty F.Y.
