They are quietly buried deep in the blood vessels at the base of the skull. They have no obvious symptoms but can cause sudden death. Common cerebral hemangioma sites include anterior cerebral artery (30-35%), internal carotid artery and posterior cerebral artery (30-35%), middle cerebral artery (20%), basilar artery, posterior circulation artery (5%).

Cerebrovascular aneurysm is a cerebrovascular disease. When the blood pressure reduces the elastic layer of the blood vessel wall, then weakened blood vessel wall, forming a cerebral aneurysm. Cerebral vessel bifurcations are generally weak, and cerebrovascular aneurysms are also occur in here. The swollen blood vessel wall of cerebral angioma is relatively weak and easy to rupture, which can cause hemorrhagic stroke and trigger other emergencies. It is the most deadly type of stroke, with a mortality rate as high as 36%.

腦血管動脈瘤

Once a cerebrovascular aneurysm ruptures, 20-30% of the patients died before arriving to the hospital. If a ruptured cerebral hemangioma is not treated in time, the chance of bursting again within six months will account for 40%, and the mortality rate will be as high as 70%. In Hong Kong, there are about five cases for every 100,000 people, mainly middle-aged people, and the ratio of male to female is 1:2. Smoking, high blood pressure, and cerebral artery injuries are more common. If an aneurysm ruptures, it can kill people in a second. You may have heard of people you know die suddenly because of a ruptured aneurysm. Patient need to take anticoagulant for a period of time after operation to prevent blood vessel embolism.

For acute bleeding from cerebral aneurysm, the patient may need to undergo emergency Aneurysm Clipping. Titanium clamps are used to clamp the ruptured aneurysm. To avoiding the consequences of 60% mortality and 90% permanent severe disability.

Cerebral vascular aneurysm rupture does pose a great threat to life.
