Similar as shoulder joint, it is called \u201cball-and-socket joint\u201d, which is responsible for hip motion in all directions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0Hip pain can be due to different causes. It can be due to the problem from the hip joint itself (e.g. Osteoarthritis, Avascular Necrosis of Hip, Pelvic\/ Hip fracture, Hip labral tear etc.), it can also be due to the radiating pain from the lumbar spinal problem. The muscles surrounding the hip joint may cause painful hip (e.g. muscle sprain and tear, Iliotibial band syndrome).<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0Orthopaedic surgeon will perform a detailed clinical examination for the hip joint. X-ray is frequently used for assessment of the bone and joint problem. MRI hip joint is the most informative investigation, which can assess the structures inside hip joint such as the labral tear.
